Martin Lifton

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Martin Lifton, a dedicated supporter, past founder, first CMF Chairman, honoree, board member, and treasured friend of the Children’s Medical Fund of New York.

For decades, Martin was a pillar of strength and generosity within the CMF community. As CMF's first Chairman, his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of pediatric patients and their families at Cohen Children’s Medical Center was both inspiring and deeply impactful. Martin believed that no child or family should face the hardships of serious illness alone — and through his efforts, he helped ensure they never had to.

Martin brought heart, wisdom, and vision to everything he did for CMF. Whether guiding board decisions, championing fundraising initiatives, or simply offering a warm smile and kind word, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His legacy is etched into the very fabric of our organization — in the programs he helped build, the families he helped support, and the hope he helped sustain.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life of a man whose compassion continues to ripple outward. In Martin’s memory, CMF remains more committed than ever to carrying forward the mission he so deeply believed in.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Lifton family and thank them for sharing Martin with us. His legacy will forever remain a guiding light.
