Who better than a young patient to explain what help from the Children’s Medical Fund means to him? Read Adam Pasternack’s story about how the stellar care from Cohen Children’s Medical Center resulted in a new lease on life.
“Why I got involved in the CMF? Simple. I got sick, was running a 105 fever and off I went to the hospital. I ended up there for a week. No parent or kid should ever know what I went through at any time. Oh, and did I tell you it was over Labor Day weekend? In plain English, it stunk!
I wanted to do something good and pay it forward. So, when I was released I went on a campaign with my picc line in tow and started knocking on doors. OK, all you kids out there… my mom suggested it but I did all the work: sending emails and some more emails. To all the kids out there, you text your friends and talk on the phone, so why not do something good for someone else?
I can tell you it is amazing to help someone who is sick. CMF is a great organization, so gather your friends, make a team and raise the roof to raise some money for a very worthy organization in my eyes. I experienced this first hand while in the hospital.
My goal for my future is to become a civil engineer and I am in the process of looking at colleges.”
